"Me Time" Monday

Most moms are terrible at taking time for themselves. It does not matter whether you are a stay at home mom, a work at home mom, a part time working mom, a full time working mom or some combination of these (like yours truly!). We stink at taking time for ourselves. We are always so busy making sure that our families are taken care of that we sometimes overlook ourselves. It's easy to do.

Personally, I have been trying to have a bit of time to myself each week. I am a stay at home mom, who works from home, who also works outside of the home one night a week. I feel like I am always going in a million different directions and I only insist on taking time for myself when I feel like I am about to snap. That is not the way to do it!

Recently, my husband left the house one hour before a work meeting so that he had time to go for a run before meeting with his department, and I realized that I wanted to be more like that. He felt no guilt or worry about leaving. In fact, he made it sound as though his meeting started at 8am, rather than 9, so that I would be none-the-wiser. I always thought that it "must be nice" to have that time to himself. So my goal is to make it a priority!

After that long introduction, my goal is to post each Monday about what I have done with my "me" time!

Last Friday, I was able to get out of the house and go get my haircut. It was heaven! My mother in law got me a gift card to a local salon last year for my birthday. It had been almost 17 months and I never used that gift card! So I was able to get a haircut with a master stylist -something I would never have paid for had it not been for the gift card! It only cost me $5 out of pocket, plus $20 for a tip. On the way home, I stopped at Old Navy to grab a few pairs of smaller shorts (goodbye, baby weight!) and then headed back to my crazy family.

It was a nice little break! What have you done for yourself lately?
